ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
This project will include six microplastic drop boxes that will be placed intentionally around Buffalo, NY summer 2023. We redesigned retired newspaper recycling bins into plastic collection dispensers. The containers will have educational graphics about microplastics on all sides, as well as, supply the activity book, Create Your Own Field Guide to Microplastics. This project encourages participants to learn about the impact of plastic pollution and actively help remove it from the environment. Community clean ups will occur periodically throughout the duration of the project at each of the site locations. We will catalog all the plastic collected into a global database, and then use it to make artwork, permanently removing it from the environment.
